The Met Office has issued an amber warning for "strong winds causing blizzard conditions," which could result in "significant disruption" and up to 40cm of snow in some parts of the UK. Forecasters have predicted that snowstorms will hit central and northern England, potentially causing significant transportation, power line, and phone network disruptions.
In addition to this, several milder yellow weather warnings for snow have been issued from Wednesday to Friday, covering most of the nation. Tuesday was the coldest night of the year so far, with sub-zero overnight temperatures expected in all four UK nations in the upcoming days. Nicola Maxey, a spokesperson for the Met Office, stated that although this is the coldest temperature recorded in March since 2010, it is not unusual to see snow during this month.
