It may be surprising, but Activision's Call of Duty series is returning to Nintendo platforms after a 10-year absence. In February, a commitment was finalized, and Microsoft has since stated its goal of bringing the "best version" of Call of Duty to Nintendo devices. A new document published by the UK CMA reveals further claims made by Microsoft, which expresses confidence in Activision's development teams' ability to optimize Call of Duty games to run on the Nintendo Switch promptly.
Microsoft cites previous Switch ports, including Apex Legends, DOOM Eternal, Fortnite, and Crysis 3, as examples of techniques that could be used. It also notes that Warzone, the popular battle royale mode, supports PC GPUs dating back to 2015, prior to the Nintendo Switch's release in 2017. Microsoft plans to maintain feature and content parity between CoD releases on Nintendo and Xbox consoles, subject to Nintendo's policy requirements. Microsoft specifically references the Switch, stating that it could natively support traditional CoD experiences as well as Warzone.
